BIG Talks | IIt’s Not How Much You Earn — It’s How Much You Keep | Pastor Jonathan Kamya: It’s Not How Much You Earn — It’s How Much You Keep
💰 **You can’t guard what you don’t have. You can’t grow what you haven’t kept.**
In Part 1 of this powerful BIG Talk, Pastor Jonathan Kamya shares his personal journey of learning one of the simplest — yet most transformative — principles of wealth building:
**SAVE CONSISTENTLY.**
After more than 25 years of working, Pastor Jonathan realised that earning money did not automatically mean he was building wealth. Inspired by a simple savings challenge undertaken by two young children, he decided to change his own financial habits.
He started small.
£20 a month became £10 a week.
Consistency created progress.
Progress created motivation.
And motivation encouraged him to increase what he was saving.
Using the story of **Joseph and Pharaoh in Genesis 41**, Pastor Jonathan shows that saving is not merely modern financial advice — it reflects a biblical principle of preparing during seasons of abundance for seasons when resources may be scarce.
Joseph's strategy was simple: during the seven years of abundance, **20% was set aside** in preparation for the years of famine.
This conversation also challenges one of our biggest assumptions about money:
**It is not simply how much you earn that determines your financial position. It is what you do with what you earn.**
Someone earning £3,000 and consistently saving £500 can finish the year with more than someone earning £5,000 but spending almost everything.
And someone continually spending more than they earn may be quietly building debt regardless of how impressive their income appears.
The journey therefore begins with a decision:
**Get it. Guard it. Grow it. Give it.**
In this episode you’ll discover:
• Why saving must become a habit
• Why you should start with an amount you can sustain
• How small financial victories create motivation
• The biblical wisdom behind saving
• Why income alone does not create wealth
• Why controlling expenditure matters
• Why savings eventually need to be invested and grown
• How consistent stewardship can change your financial future
📖 **Key Scripture: Genesis 41**
Whatever you earn today, start somewhere.
£5. £10. £20. £100.
The amount matters less at the beginning than establishing the **discipline and consistency**.
👉🏾 Watch, share and ask yourself:
**“Am I simply earning money — or am I actually building something with it?”**

*Get it. Guard it. Grow it. Give it.*
